The first year is a crucial time
For your child's development..
Encourage your child to learn, love, and grow.
It is never too early to learn.
*Read to your child often and encourage them to read to you.
Buy as many books for your child that you can.
They can never learn enough!!!
*Watching t.v. isn't a bad thing,
when your child is learning from what they are watching.
-limit time spent in front of the t.v. as well as games.
*Play a board game with them or take them outside
to run around in the yard.
*Encourage them to use their imagination.
-draw pictures or write stories with your child -allow them to make up the words
and then have them draw a picture. *Let them be a kid and run, play, and get dirty.
*Just remember the more they run around and burn energy, the easier they will
fall asleep at the end of the day.
*Allow and encourage your child to express their feelings.
Don't let it build up, you will regret
it as they get older.
*Learn to control your temper and be patient
with your child, they are learning from you!!
*When correcting your child, give them options or choices-
clean up your toys or go to your room, on your bed, in time-out!-
Communicate with them, try to avoid using the word no, alone!
example: instead of saying no, say: no, don't you do that, and explain to them why you told them not to.
*You may not have to answer to your children,
but you do have to answer their questions!
Be involved in their life and talk to them about their day
(even if you were with them all day.)
*Lead by example, be positive, be patient, and be kind!
Love and teach love!!
The smallest expression of kindness, is the Biggest moment of the day.
Cherish the little things in life(-=

All parents should encourage their children to use their imagination!! Allowing your child to express themselves, shows them that it is okay to be themselves... ~Play School: Let your child play teacher and you be the student.. You will be amazed at what you learn!! (I try to give Lilly a homework assignment at least 2 times a wk.)- This gives her some experience of how real school will work.. ~Play Store: Set up a store with your child's toys and books. Put prices on the items and give them so much fake money... Teach them about spending and saving! ~Play Restaurant: Allow your child to take you order, cook your food, and give you the bill.. Try sending your order back and complaining! This will help teach them how to deal with criticism, plus it's fun to see their reaction!! LOL.. ~Play Doctor: Let your little one play the doctor and you be the patient.. Tell them your symptoms and get their diagnosis.. Just don't let them perform surgery! LOL.. |

As most parents know, there isn't a manual or directions that comes with your child. Many people can attempt to write book after book to try and help you learn how to be a good parent, but in all reality no matter how many books and articles we read about parenting, what we do get out of what we read only affects the choices or decisions we make as parents. No one can really tell us how to raise our children. But, for me i am willing to take any advice i can get along the way.
Until you have had a second child, then you will understand what people mean when they say every child is different in their own way. What may work for one may not work so well for the other in the same situation. It is really all a learning experience for both us and our children! So, try to make the best of it! We will all make mistakes along the way. The important thing is we learn from them and teach our children to learn from their mistakes too. |
